Picnic in a Foreign Land
2026 · Oil on panel · 73 × 92 cm
Picnic in a Foreign Land began with a found photograph and a need to look towards those whom time has left behind. Though their names and stories may have been lost, I feel that they are still part of me. Through painting, I try to draw closer to them and offer them a place from which they can be remembered again. Like certain images that accompany my research, this photograph held an immediate, inexplicable attraction for me, as though something living remained within it, waiting to be seen once more.
